Ahoy Corkie.

4.15.2011

A trip to the Shilshole Bay Marina was the perfect end to a pleasant yet seemingly busy week.  Sadly, given I do not possess a yacht (or any other mode of water transportation) we settled for strolling along the railing peering over the edge to the depths of the murky Puget Sound below us. In our midst stood a memorial dedicated to the Nordic history of the Ballard neighborhood, complete with a larger than life statue of Leif Ericson, the revered Norse explorer. Highlight of the escapade: a small tugboat branded Corkie. A fitting name for a spunky little vessel.

"What's that thing? I said. O, that's an oar, he said, in case we hit a calm stretch & we decide we need more excitement & also it's good for slapping sharks".
